During the beginning of the quarter, I choose a group for a project in democracy. Our project was called, "Is the U.S. ready to vote by mail". In this project my group and I had to listen to this 45 minute podcast that listed very importants facts about in-mail voting and voting during a pandemic. We all took individual notes and shared the main points that we got from listening to the podcast. There was one point that I made that got not only got my group to think, but also the class, "Are we really ready to be voting?". My group and I got together and made a slideshow (work sample below). We put the pros, cons, and different points that we believed were important and shared them with the class.
This project was one of the first projects I did in the first quarter and to say, it was a little confusing. Without the group being face to face and instead being all in a virtual call, it was hard to assign parts and who was going to present what. There was even a moment when I couldn't hear anything my group was telling me. Even though this project was hard and confusing to do, I had a lot of fun doing it. I was able to interact with my peers, whom were new to this school, and learn from them, especially the way the grasp the knowledge and the idea from the podcast.
I actually hope that Ms.Terry does a project that is similar to this again. Being able to connect with my peers and understanding their views, makes me see points in a different light. It helps me better understand the work that I am doing and I guess in a way, my work becomes better than if I was doing it alone.
