For my humanities class, we were given an extra credit assignment that talked about plastic. There was a video called "Plastic Wars" for those who wanted to do this assignment. For this assignment we had to do a TQE, which means taking notes, asking questions and writing what we already know. The video talked about plastic and the different causes made by it. It even started talking about how plastic was first created and everything we needed to know to help further educate us about the dangers of plastic and what we can do.
This video actually helped me understand even further and expand my knowledge of plastic. I didn't realize how much I didn't know what plastic can do. I took as much notes from what I was able to understand and wrote questions that popped into my head while watching the video.
I learned as much I could about plastic, how it was made in the first place and how it is being washed up to different parts of the world. I want to use the knowledge that I have on plastic, and use that to help further educate my family, and hoping the community. After watching the video, ideas came into mind on how we could lessen the amount of plastic in the environment. One idea was to instead of recycling, we reuse. There is a motto that says "Reuse, Reduce, Recycle". What people don't know is that this is a step. The first thing that we need to do is reuse, which then leads to the reduction of plastic. Then the plastic that we can't reuse anymore, we then recycle it. Many people just recycle first and that's how plastic ends up everywhere because not all plastic can be recycled.
I was excited to do this assignment because it was extra credit. I never let an opportunity like this pass by. I like to take my chance on these types of assignment because they turn out to be fun to do.
