Sports I did at KCS
Cross Country
I got into Cross country during my sophomore year when I didn't made the volleyball team. At that time, I realized I didn't want to sit down and do nothing, so I talked to the AD about cross country. This was absolutely the best decision I ever made. Cross country has helped me to stay active and know what feeling accepted feels like. There was MIL championships last year, which I participated in and it was amazing. Even though I came in last out of everyone, I still had fun. Being there with my team and hearing them cheer me on was such a great feeling.
Over the summer, I was able to participate in a summer run that the coach holds every year. We had to run a specific amount of miles to get an award of some type. I ran a total of 100 miles over the summer and I was rewarded with a hydro flask that had my name and "Kihei Charter Cross Country" written underneath. Just because cross country was canceled this season, it didn't stop me from running.

Paddling
Sophomore Year, I struggled to choose between soccer and paddling. I decided that I wanted to try something new, something I never expected to try. Paddling. Paddling has taught me so many things. It taught me that everyone is in it together, that we are one. Everyone relies on each other for support and strength. The paddling team is a family and we always look out for each other. If one team wins, we all win. If one team loses, we use that loss as a lesson and teachable moment so we know what to do better next time. I'm honestly glad that I was able to be part of this team. It taught me what teamwork means, hard work, and to have fun.
Whenever I miss doing paddling, I put on my jersey and close my eyes for a second and remember all the memories that happened last year. The practices, before our race, during the race, and after the race. I remember the team giving pep talks whenever we would go out into the water and it brought up our spirits. I even remember the team putting their all in the races, using all of their strength and energy to paddle across the finish line. I would love to see that again.

Track and Field
During the cross country season during my sophomore year, Coach Cassie talked about track season. I was intrigued and wanted to try out the season. Track was very unexpected. I practiced with the sprinters and the mid-distance runners. We all did the exercises together and as a team. We all supported one another. The first track meet I went was amazing. I remember all the cheering we did whenever one was on the track. We got prepared together and pushed each other. Although last season was cut short due to the pandemic, everything is unexpected but sadly I wont be participating in track this season.
Tennis
I started doing tennis at the end of my Junior year and to say it was my favorite sport I did throughout my entire high school life. I loved the way the coaches made practice fun and encouraged me to try my best even though I have never picked up a racket until March of 2021. I realized that I could go weeks without playing tennis but the moment I pick up my rackets, it is like I haven't put it down. I had a lot of fun and I will cherish the memories I made in tennis.
